What Florida law requires
Coach screening and concussions
Florida requires every private organization that runs youth teams based in Florida to run a level 2 background screening, which it may not leave to individual teams, on each coach, assistant coach, manager and referee who has direct contact with players, and to let no one coach who does not pass, except as the law allows. The organization must also collect a parent's signed concussion consent each year, remove a player suspected of a concussion at once, and require written clearance from a health care practitioner trained in concussions before the player returns.
